This long Easter weekend, we took a few jaunts around Port Moresby ….
We decided to go out to Sunset Lodge in Lealea on Saturday, and invited some friends to join us. On the drive out, we missed it at first and ended up in the village where the road ends, and there’s only a footbridge.
Once there, the men manned the BBQ, while the kids explored the beach and swam, and the pigs hung about in the mud.
On Sunday we went to Fishermens Island on our friends boat (minus hubby who had to work). Spent the entire time in the water, and got sunburnt to a crisp.
Easter Monday saw us at another friend’s compound for lunch, with a huge pool complex complete with water-slide, floating crocodile, and razor wire electric fencing (still sans husband).
Finished doodling another mandala styled flower today.
Lovely lazy Sunday afternoon. Last night we had a BBQ to celebrate Waitangi Day with some of our friends here in Port Moresby.
Still can’t wrap my head around the fact I saw “happy kiwi day” being used by a large NZ company on their facebook page this Waitangi Day …. while I’m assuming they didn’t mean any offensive, and in fact were probably trying to make light of what is a politically nightmarish day for the NZ government, it certainly made my blood boil. I sarcastically typed myself a “post it note” on my laptop screen to vent.
