Tiny’s Big Adventures
We got this book out from the library last week.
I just love the illustrations. They are wood engravings by James Lawrence.
They’re some pretty mad skills he’s got there. Makes me want to get out my lino tools, blocks, and brayer and get carving. It’s very inspiring to see what’s around ‘crafty ole blogland’ at the moment, as the block printing craze has hit hard. Here’s some helpful links for those interested at having a go:

Got something to say?

Love the colours, will you be getting creative?
I hope too. Last time I carved out a block I slipped and put a lovely decorative V shaped cut in the side of my finger - ouch.
what a gorgeous book. I will be very surprised if you don’t do a great job fo the carving sweetie, you really are talented.
Have you read this yet and how is Xanthes reading going? Does Xavier still bring you heaps of books to read. I am looking forward to reading lots and lots when I come down. I sent them letters which they should get today and tomorrow I will send the recorders.
I found a block of land - 5 Acres, with about half of it with trees grown to farm on it and with a cool house bus for $159K, at Maungatapere where my mum lived at one stage. about 15 minutes from Waipu and 15 minutes from Whangarei and I thought of Desarei. I thought she might be able to afford that, even if she doesnt live there. What do you think, I send her the link but dont have it at work but I will show you later. It came up during our search for something. I would really like her to get some foot on the property market and this would always rise in value, even if she never lived on it, although the house bus looks really cool.
We are going back up north saturday - its only an half and 15 minutes drive to check out a few houses.
I have spoken to Kay Lucas at Harcourts in Dunedin and she will list our house in Dunedin. Thats the agent we nearly brought that white place from, if you remember.
What other quick news can I think of while I am at work, oh yes my contract just got renewed for three months. I want a permanent job by June so that works in well as there will be jobs coming up here around March\May. There is a real shortage of skilled people though, interesting - no actually shit boring really.
The fun stuff is your family and the weather, isn’t it lovely. I better eat my lunch and get back to work - oh and congratulate Aaron for me for losing 10K’s. Its not easy thats for sure.
lots of love

HI Guys, I hope you are a having a great day.
Can you please measure Xavier when hes sitting down, as I need the length from the floor up to under his arm - for his jacket I am knitting.
I also need his arm length, so please take from the length you want around the hands to up to under his arm.
If you could post that today it would be great. I was doing this last night and got to that point, when I realised I hadnt checked the measurements.
And to make sure Xanthe doesnt feel left out can you measure her from the floor, (sitting down) up her back to her neckline, for something else I am working on.
many thanks and lots and lots of love, oh, nearly forgot. We are giving the house to Harcourts, Kay Lucas to sell.
