Taking it easy

Got my jewellery orders made and dispatched super early, so just hanging out at home chilling now. Eating popcorn, watching TV, and ignoring the housework. With lots of funny moments listening to Xavier commenting with much regularity that mummy and Xanthe don’t have diddles – love his innocence.

Here’s my current WIPs …. just beavering away stitching, stitching:

WIPs

The pink and blue bodysuits have cute lil hearts on the back like this finished one:

A wee surprise in the back

ChookMook goes chic boutique...

Not sure what I’ll do with them, as I have a nice big stash of these blank onsies in my cupboard to embellish some way or another.

ooo000OOO000ooo

I am also shocked at how fast time is flying. The school holidays are drawing to an end, and soon Xanthe will be back off to school, to spend her days in a classroom of children, becoming institutionalised. No freedom to dig in the sandpit, or whittle away her time crafting as and when it suits. Apparently she’s not writing enough sentences at school. A quick glance over her writing book indicates she concentrates on “illustrating” her stories, with the most elaborate, delightful, and imaginative pictures. We weren’t all born to be Shakespeare. I feel my budding artiste needs a creative outlet that school just doesn’t offer. I am not unhappy with her school, but just feel life has more to offer to my five year old, then her classroom has to give.

I was gonna say what you doinng with those HAHAH! NO more babies for you? ? How are you?

Mwah-ha,ha! No, there are no more babies on the way. Hope you’re doing well chook.

  2. Sarah Bean says:

aww, they are so sweet, specially the little heart on the bum ;)

    thinking homeschooly thoughts?

Why, thank you Mrs Bean, I think they are rather sweet too. And yes, lots of home schooling thoughts going on round here. But hubbies a true blue southern man, and can’t understand what the fuss is all about, aw well…

  3. Mum says:

Hey love, these are beautiful, just beautiful.

you are so creative and clever.

Sweetheart when you were little I agonised about home schooling you for reasons similar to Xanthes. Its most unusual then, its not now. i didn’t get any support and didnt feel I was strong enough to justify it. MISTAKE.

In your heart you do whats right for your kids because you want the best for them.

Dad didn’t understand me either, but then like Aaron the majority of his week his week was actually spent outside the home. But one of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t listen to my soul.

If you think you can give your child more by homeschooling , then go for it because they are your children, you are a very clever adult and intuitive with children, you do know whats right for your children. (And quite frankly I agree with you). There are lots of support processes set up now and lots of social activities that they need. You will spend a long time regretting what you don’t do, not what you do. I will support you in any way shape or form I can for anything you think is the right thing to do for your children. Sweetheart if you don’t whats right for them, no one will. Chantelle completely lost interest at school, and shes a bright cookie, I should have done something different for her as well. Remember when we left you and Chantelle leave school early because we knew, well I did, that what was available at the time just wasn’t cutting it.

Whatever you go with I will help you as much as I can, even from here.

Lots of love sweetie, talk to you later. And believe in yourself.

  7. Hay says:

Awww hon. Mr Music felt EXACTLY the same way! He took ages to come around, now, when I have my -I’m sending these freakin’ children to school tomorrow days, he is the one who defends the homeschooling side.
You can always trial it for a term or so.

Hey, perhaps you could sell those onsies to me? NO, not for me! My friend is having a wee baby girl in July :) Email me!

I will email you, soonish, promise, lol.

Aaron’s just purchased a new “real” camera. Not quite so high tech as yours, but man did he drool all over the keyboard when I showed him your Flickr. He’s popped out now with the kids, and that camera’s strapped on over his shoulder, looking like something out of Rambo. Very funny.

Thanks for your thoughts about HS too …. what to do, what to do, umm dee dum. (What a cool hubby you have too, by the way!)

  8. katie X says:

    peace and sunshine X

    Thanks Katie!

    Send some sunshine down!!!

Pfft, getting a little ansy seeing all these “beachie” pic appearing on your blog, lol. Pretty cold down here.

  9. mum says:

    helllo sweetie,

hows your holidays with the kids going?

    yah its friday.

we got an offer on the auckland house last night. Fancy that, one weekend of open homes.
We re 3 grand apart, and we said we would think about it overnight. Looks like that might be a goer.

They have a house to sell so its back to the normal market as it used to be.

hope fully that will happen because that will seal the deal for the Waipu land. Although we can’t build anything unless we sell dunedin, but then it may be worth keeping anyway. Lots to consider.

Did the munchkins get there mail?

How are you sweetie, still believing in yourself?

    hopefully talk to you later.

lots and lots of love, as always.
    mum

  10. mum says:

    Hi Sweetie,

I just posted some mail, so can you let me know when it arrives, I would like to know how long its taking.

Hope your having a good day and it was an easy transition back to the school and kindy.

    lots of love

    HOW ARE YOu?

I am good, how are you? Take care of yourself.

  12. Nikki says:

Eeeek, school freaks me out. I am so easily persuaded by homeschoolies like Hay and Kate and Sharon. They look like they have so much fun and their kiddos are so cool. But still… Hannah will probably be sent along to school and plonked into her little box.

I think it is faaaaaaaabulous that Xanthe kid is into illustrating her stories. And how come they have to measure learning by the amount of sentences one writes?! Useless. Ah well…

Cute little appliques Jacinta. Very clever you are. Also love the new jewelery. If I hadn’t just spent a fortune on yarn then I may have got myself a mother’s day pressie!

    xo

Thanks Nikki!!! Hope that new job’s going well.

  13. mum says:

Hi Guys, how are you today.

Pretty cold over night. I am sure your house was as snug as bug in a rug, must have been cold outside though.

Hope your day is going well.

    love mum

  14. Mum says:

    Hi love,

thought you might like a laugh. I ate too many grapes the other night and I had an allergic reaction. I have been covered in a nasty red itchy rash for two days. I thought I had enough steroids and stuff to cope, but it wasnt strong enough and tonight I had to go to the doctor for more.

I looked like a raised red lump, luckily clothes covered most of it, but man how itchy. They kids would have laughed if they had seen it.

Thankfully prednedzone or what ever thats called is taking care of it. Thats the 2nd time its happened, but this time worse. All the healthy eating I have been doing must be making me more sensitive, but funny to see, even if not to experience. Really weird, thankfully tonight I don’t look like I have major case of the measles any more, they’re only slightly red, but thankgoodness its longsleeve weather and my hair covers my neck.

    What a laugh really.
anyway, hope that didn’t get passed down through the genes.

Hope all is going well, lots of love.

    mum

Ever better them grapes, just drink wine (or sniff it).

  15. mum says:

    Hi love,

hows it going today. Still busy busy stitching, these really are beautfiul.

sweetie, you know the lovely bracelet that you sent me for my birthday last year an I gave back to you because it was slightly big. Love have you finished that, its just that is lovely and I would like to wear it, so no pressure, but it would be lovely to have.

I sent the kids some more mail just now, so would be good to see when that arrives. I saw something I couldnt resist for Xavier so got one for Xanthe too. no wool, but cute.

    Have a good day.

    love mum

Hi Mum, it’s on my “to do list”, lol. Will go and kick my own self up the arse to keep a move along
    *more lol*
need to go drink more coffee
    *even more lol*

  16. Donna says:

    hi there Bird family!
hows it all going down there? Jacinta i love the work you’ve been doing…they look fab…
Tell me, are you using a thin ribbon or is it a thick thread?
    love and hugs to all.
    love
    the smurphs

Hi guys. Was thinking of you earlier this week. Aaron brought a “real” camera and I am sure had we been in Auckland he would have been asking Uncle Paul for his advice, and then doing the whole show and tell thingamebob. With those appliques, I’ve been using cotton embroidery floss … it’s pretty thick. Takes ages to blanket stitch the edges, but looks great. I am thinking about sewing the edges with my sewing machine now. They are permanetly fused on, but I like to stitch them down as well.

  17. Yvette Bird says:

Homeschooling? If I had the patience Id love to do that but alas, it would drive me nuts… If thats what you want to do and you feel able to do that, GO FOR IT!! It would be more of a huge bonding stage for you and the wee ones too, dont worry, Aarons got the dog.lol

Your an awesome person and an awesome Mum Jacinta, Im sure what ever you do will be right for you…

Miss 3 always tends to forget about poor ole Uncle Aaron, she likes to ring her Aunty Jacinta, awwwwww.

*waving hi to my niece Heidi, and her crazy mumma Yvette (and hi to Hannah & Daniel)*

  18. mum says:

    Hi love hows things going.

    I hope everyone is well.

Joseph has a wee fall of his bike last night, well not really a fall. Some crazy pedestrian walked out in front of him in our street, she had big ear phones on and he crashed avoiding her. Luckily someone saw it because of course the police and ambulance came and it would have been big trouble for him if it was his fault.

He has tissue damage in his knee\leg but no broken bones thankfullly, although its the tissue damage which can be awkward to heal. hes at home on crutches at the moment.

But what a shock. Isnt life funny, you just dont know whats around the corner.

love to you all and will speak to you on the weekend.
    love mum

Hope he’s doing ok. He needs to install bull-bars on his bike, that will take care of those random crazy pedestrians. Those bloody pedestrians, I mean come on, use the fricken pedestrian crossing for crying out loud!!!!

  19. Mum says:

    HI love,
I tried to comment on your amber teething site, it told me only team members could comment, so that could be restricting other people as well.

    Lots of love.
    mum

Comments are turned off on the website to keep it trademe “compliant”. I refer people to that website in my trademe auctions, and the only way I can mention the link is if there are no contact facilities. Otherwise, Big Brother, oops I meant Trademe withdraw auctions (without refudning any advertising costs). Basically if peple can leave comments on that blog, they could bypass the trademe auction, and then trademe miss out on fees. Oh boohoo for them …. I have a love/hate relationship with trademe.

  20. Mum says:

Hi love, call you tonight to have a chat since I didn’t get to speak to you this morning but i got your answerphone.

You must have been in the shower or something as it was after the kids went to bed.

    Nevermind will cal you tomorrow.

The kids are changing, you can tell by their voices. Xaviers has gotten more talkative and Xanthe just sounds very grown up and quiet.

Aaron said he would look at setting up the web camera which will be great.

The photo Desarei sent of the munchkins shows Xavier changing quite a bit. He will change a lot this year I think from 3 to 4.

Time to go to bed, talk to you tomorrow.

    love mum

  21. mum says:

Hi love. I hope your ears are getting better, that must be so frustrating.

take care love and love to all

    mum

Hey. Saw doctors today, and am seeing an ear specialist tomorrow (Wednesday). I am soooo wearing ear-plugs the next time we go swimming, lol. Popping panadol like no-ones business at the moment.

  22. mum says:

Hey Sweetie how are you. No point ringing you if you can’t hear.

I will call you tonight anyway.

I hope your ears are getting better.

    Lots of love mum

  23. mum says:

    HI Sweetie,

it was WONDERFUL to see you all last night.

You all look great except you. You look really ill, even with the blurry screen.
Honey is there anything I can do to help you. I wish we were closer, I know Aarons good but you have to cope when hes at work. Probably nothing but it is a worry to see you like that. when your ears are better and you can talk call me. Or txt me and then I will call you.

Weren’t the kids just cute, Xanthe is just getting more and more confident and I saw her give her dad a cuddle in the back ground. So cute. Xavier was quiet, but when he saw Popsy he started climbing up towards the screen with a big smile on his face. Wasnt that lovely. You were in the kitchen getting Dinner, but it was so obvious as soon as he saw dad. Good to know the bonds are still there. I have to tell Chantelle the camera is up and working, she is missing you all badly and was just saying she can’t wait to see you all, she was complaining that she doesnt get to babysit or take the kids out, but thats life, you just have to deal with it. Seeing you on the internet makes a huge difference. She will want to connect as soon as she knows I am sure.

We will have to orgnize that.

Joseph is back to the hospital, his grazing is better but his leg is swollen nearly twice its usual size so they want to put a wee camera in and have a look, theres obviously some tissue damage they couldnt see.

Well I better get back to work.

Hope your ears get better soon, and you stop looking so drugged out.

    lots of love mum

  24. mum says:

Hi love, called you tonight and you were in the shower. Asked Aaron to ask you to call me, but you must have gotten busy.

I will call you tomorrow. Glad to hear you are better and great news to hear that Xaviers ears are now clear. You were right, dam doctors. thats going to make a big difference to his speech, hearing properly. You’d think the gp would have picked that up. See mums do know best.

    lots of love um

  25. mum says:

    Hi love,

called you again tonight and you were getting Dinner.
    will try you again tomorrow.

Good to hear you sounding so good when we talked briefly this morning.

lots of love to you all.
    mum
